Winnicott’s famous words remind us that we don’t develop, grow or make sense of ourselves in isolation. From our earliest moments in life, we are shaped by being seen, understood, held and responded to by others - and the same is true throughout our lives.
This online community is a place for professionals to come together - to learn, share, be witnessed, feel less alone, and discover a place where your experience makes sense; where your curiosity can thrive and where creativity is possible.
Supporting children and families is meaningful, moving and deeply human work. It can also be gritty and isolating. We, as professionals, carry things we don't always have language for; we work in systems that aren’t ready yet to be trauma-aware; we hold other people's pain in our own bodies, and of course we hold our own stories of survival and growth.

Why The Village Square?
For many years, Beacon House has offered training, resources and therapeutic services that support professionals and systems to better understand and respond to the children and families they support, through a trauma-attuned lens.
Along the way, we've learnt that the answers rarely exist within one person, and that we were never meant to hold all of this alone.
The deepest learning often happens through conversation, not instruction. The greatest insights often emerge when people bring their different experiences into the same room; and the support we need, especially when work is relational, is usually found in relationship - not in another resource, or another training course to complete alone.
The Village Square has been curated to provide a space where exactly this can happen, gently, and at your own pace.
